Guest designer for Paper Sundaes

I got to be the guest designer this week at Paper Sundaes, yay! Their theme is valentines and PaperWorks is the sponsor this week, so be sure to enter for a chance to win!! I used this cute "Sweets From Charlotte" stamp. When I first saw this image I thought of my mom, because she's always wanted to open her own little old fashioned candy store.

I coloured with Copics and the designer paper is from the BoBunny Love Bandit collection. The sketch I used was from this week's Friday Sketches Challenge.

Final Sunshine Saturday

This is going to be my last Sunshines Stamps post as a design team member. I've had a wonderful time being on the team and getting the chance to work with such a fabulous group of talented women for over 6 months! I really want to give a huge hug to Sunshine for giving me the opportunity to be on my first design team and encouraging me to grow as a crafter. Believe it or not, but before I was on this team I only did scrapbook layouts and the very first cards I ever made were for her design team. That's how green I was and yet she still welcomed me on to the team with open arms and gave me the confidence to later help my sister-in-law start her own digi company called "Ildi Co" and later apply for a spot on the PaperWorks Co design team. Thanks so much Sunshine! You're an amazing person and it's been an honor to work with you and your awesome digi stamps!!

For this card I decided to do a style very different from my usual style. I went for a clean and simple look with distressing. The colour combo was from this weeks colour challenge over on StampTV and I thought that the distressing would go well with these colours of black, white and Kraft. The sketch I used is from Tuesday Morning Sketches and of course this cute heart image is from Sunshine's Stamps.

I printed the heart image onto white card stock, distressed the edges and crinkled it up. After unfolding it, I applied Distress Ink - Antique Linen with a sponge dauber. The deisgner paper is from JilliBean Soup's Black Bean Collection which can be found at PaperWorks Co.

If you haven't got yourself any Sunshine's Stamps yet, head over there now and see what they have! There are new images added weekly and they have a big variety to chose from. Lots of great masculine images for those guys in your lives.

Other Challenges:
DareU2Digi - Valentine
Practical Scrappers - Patterned Paper

Sleeping Beauty

For our Crafty Critters blog group, Moira chose a scrapbook challenge. She found this really cool LO sketch on SCS for us to use. I decided to do a bedtime theme since I have so many pictures of my kids sleeping and I also got to use one of the cute little Bildmalarna stamps that you can find in my new store Paper Jewels. She's called Mimosa's Teddy Bear and I coloured her with copics. To the layout, I added wide ric rac and twirled blue fibers around it and added some brads.

I love everything about you!

As soon as I got my January kit from PaperWorks Co with all those die cuts in it, I knew that it would not only make great cards, but it would also work perfectly for scrapbook layouts. The title, border, paisley shapes, flower and journal box, plus the designer papers and cardstock came from the kit. I then used Charlotte from the “Standing Beneath A Tree” stamp and added her to the center of the flower shape. I coloured her with copics and used stickles on the heart on her dress.

Materials:

PaperWorks Co January Paper Card Kit (Die cuts, designer paper & cardstock)

Copics: E29, E25, E31, E11, E00, E000, R20, R22, R24, R27

Stickles – Cotton candy

Stamp – Little Loud Stamps “Standing Beneath A Tree”

And don't forget to come back Thursday because I'll be posting a sneak peek of the new release coming out Feb 5th! You're going to LOVE this new release!! Check the PaperWorks blog for a list of when and where all the sneak peeks are going to be posted and see if you can figure out what the new stamps will be :)

Sunshine Saturday!

Here's another new image from Sunshine's Stamps. Isn't this a versatile image! Perfect for valentines cards, but it would look lovely on a scrapbook LO or on a gift box, the possibilities are endless. For this card I made the heart into three different sizes, flipped the middle size and paper pieced them. Then I coloured the edges with copics and embellished the card with dew drops, brads and ribbon. The sketch I used was this weeks PaperWorks sketch. They have a new sketch every Sunday so be sure to check them out. The papers I used are from this months Paper Craft kit from PaperWorks as well.

Peek A Boo Card

I decided to make a peek-a-boo card for my posting this week. I folded the bottom corner of the card up and put matching designer paper on the top of the card and on the inside. I thought Carlos the Crab would be perfect holding up the “Love” sign. I also used pop-up dots on the heart and “kisses” on the top of the card. The designer papers, cardstock, dew drops, tulle and brads are all from this months Paper Craft kit from PaperWorks Co. This kit has been so much fun to play with! The kits are always so full of great stuff! The “Kisses” stamps I used came from the December kit. I can’t wait to see what the Febuary kit will have in it!

Materials Used:

January Paper Craft Kit
Copics : YR18, YR15, Y17
Stamps: PWCO Carlos the Crab, Snag ‘Em Acrylic Stamp Kisses

Cuddles the Tooth Fairy

I've been wanting to use this image from Ildi Co for a while now and I finaly got a chance to play with it. Every Sunday the PaperWorks Blog has a sketch challenge, so I followed that sketch. Then over on StampTV this weeks colour challenge was monochromatic and since I wanted to use this pretty peach ribbon, I went with orange as my colour.

Materials Used:
Copics E55,E35,E33,E31,YR07,YR02,YR00,YR000,YR0000
Stickles - Orange Peel
Smooch - Gold
Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers - Two-tone orange

Card Pocket

For this weeks post I decided to create a card pocket with a little insert using only supplies that came in my January Paper Card Kit from PaperWorks Co. Absolutely everything on this card came from the kit! To make the pocket I cut the Ivory cardstock in half making two 4.25 x 11″ pieces. I folded them each in half and cut opposite diagonals on the front half of each piece. I then adhered the back of each piece togther and decrated the front. After the front angles were decorated with the designer paper, I adhered the front angles together to make a little pocket. The insert piece was made by cutting out a rectangle that would fit nicely inside the pocket. For the band I used one of the die cut borders and wove the netted ribbon in and out of the pre-punched holes, I then adhered it to peach cardstock. The insert and the band around the center of the card pocket are both removable.

Hit By Jacob's Arrow

I had a lot of fun playing with this month’s card kit, it was filled with so many fantastic goodies!! I thought this Cupid Jacob would be a perfect fit for these colours and papers, since they are great for Valentine’s cards! I coloured the image with Copics, but Jacob’s wings and the hearts I painted with stickles and for his bow I used Gold Smooch. This was my first time playing with the Smooch and I really loved it! I only have gold and silver right now, but I’ll definitely be adding to my collection.

The cardstock, designer paper, dew drops and ribbon I used are from the January Papercard kit from PaperWorks.

Other materials used:
Copics – E59,E53,E49,E25,E11,E00,E000,G00,BG10,BG0000
Nesties – Ovals, Scalloped Ovals
Clearsnap Smooch – Gold Lame
Stickles – Crystal, Cotton Candy
Stamp – Little Loud Stamps “Jacob the Cupid”

Double Pocket Cards

Here are the cards I made for I swap I joined. I altered this tutorial a bit for these double pocket cards, by incorporating cardstock to make them sturdier. I sewed around the edges and added ribbon and brads.
This an up close shot of what the inserts look like.
